I’ve been listening to this one for a long time now. The First made it for me a while back and I slapped it on my Shuffle and BOOM got smacked down by the sound. There’s not much traditional about it (well, Metallica’s Breadfan does make an appearance) but it will definitely get you through your workout.
Incidentally, the ones with the highest playcount on my Shuffle are Guarded, by Disturbed, and BYOB, by System of a Down. Something’s clearly wrong with me.
Crank it up, people.
- Operation Ground and Pound, Dragonforce
- Indestructible, Disturbed
- Guarded, Disturbed
- Fading Away, Demon Hunter
- Duality, Slipknot
- Don’t Stay, Linkin Park
- Dark Chest of Wonders, Nightwish
- Coming Undone, Korn
- Breadfan, Metallica
- BYOB, System of a Down
- Avarice, Disturbed
- Pulse of the Maggots, Slipknot
- Through Fire and Flames, Dragonforce

Awesome, thanks! I have a few of these too, and BYOB definitely has a high play count for me as well.
Hardcore! Remind me now to get in your way while you’re pumped up to that! Sound tracks in Thai gyms could be anything from love-songs to traditional pipe-music. Every now and then someone would pop on a rave CD or hard rock but usually we were left to our own devices. Must try this way!
Rob, let me know if you have a playlist to share and I’ll post it!
Niamh, I’ve only ever boxed in a few gyms, but every single one here seems to feature the same stuff. It’s nearly always hip-hop. That’s what you hear at the boxing events, too. I think it’s fascinating that other fight sports have a different culture and environment…
Thank you for posting this, I can’t wait to use this playlist tomorrow to work out, I need something to pump me up!
Glad it sounds good to you. Have a great workout!
