I also wouldn’t consider Fizzled Durham an “anti-ignite”…I just felt that there were so many awesome presentations, that not giving those people a chance was shame.

That is pretty rad. I think it is a great topic. The local Internet Summit was way too “male-heavy” and not a good representation of the area.

I think it’s more that Charlotte’s fans are awesome at motivating THEIR fans. I did one LiveJournal post and people reposted in Facebook, Twitter, even a Nebraska Huskers message board! I had nothing to do with it. It’s just people being awesome when the rest of my week has been crap.

Lisa, of course, is the greatest and most awesome of all.

Hey Lisa,
Great blog post! You have such a way with words. I hope I have the opp to share my deep knowledge about Zombies with the rest of the Raleigh crowd. You can never be too prepared for when the %&@$#%&^ goes down, right?

I’m also psyched that Raleigh is part of Global Ignite Week. We’re having Ignite nights in over 60 cities across 6 continents (no one stepped up in Antarctica yet…) during the first week of March. Really very cool. There is a charitable movement behind this as well. We’re going to share more information about this “global effort on a local level” on the blog.

And there are 2 big reveals coming concerning speaker selection and … oh you’re going to have to wait….. Trust me, it’s going to rock.

We just have some truly amazing people in the area and I felt it was shame that only a few get to speak at Ignite.

I was amazed at how fast Charlotte’s presentation shot up the voting rankings, she obviously knew how to get her fans motivated to vote!

I can’t wait until the event!

Jess, I’m thinking just how cool it is to see not just one or two but several women in the running. And if you don’t present at IR, I’m pretty sure @bledsoe and I are going to come hear your speech at Fizzled, cuz we’re all about saving some money. Plus we think you are the shizz.
