Yep, the ‘rents got a new substitute daughter. Polly is a rescue pup, formerly feral. She has a half-purple tongue and short square-ish muzzle; likely she’s part chow. There may also be some lab and collie in her. She’s deeply ambivalent about people, and barks fiercely at newcomers while furiously wagging her south end. But as we say in the south, she’ll settle.
