Five inches is rare for us, too, Sine B, but it does happen once every few years. Our trees will bud out in a few weeks too, which is why allergy season up here (so weird to say "up here" but since you're in Texas...) starts in February. I'm amazed that you'll ride 30 miles in freezing weather. /shudder/

Deirdre, I'm trying to remember where you moved here from. Was is somewhere snowy? If you ever get the hankering for a handful of boys to liven (ha!) up your house, we're only a van ride away. I'll drive them riiiiight over to you. I recommend you stock the pantry in advance; they're like locusts.

Thanks for reading, you guys.

Great story, I could practically hear and smell the gang. Read bits of it out loud to Jim. Our day was quite calm in comparison -- no boys around here, unless you count the gray-haired ones. Enjoy a snowy Sunday!

5 inches of snow! Wow! Sigh.. all we ever get is an ice storm once a year that usually lasts for about a day. Since it's already January 31st, I don't think it's going to happen this year at all. On the brighter side, the trees will start budding out in few weeks. Currently it's 32 degrees and I'm trying to decide whether to bundle up and go ride 30 miles or throw another log on the fire... hmm... come to think of it I do have some left-over brandy in the cabinet.
