He Puts the “W” in “Mom”

The Maker made me this super-awesome pop-up card and I know you’re all jealous.

He has recently been enamored of the nifty way you can play with words, and he particularly adores palindromes. However, in the case of my name (which is, of course, “Mom”) he likes that I sign my notes with “WOW MOM”. This is practically theater in the round, and he enjoys spinning it every which way and delights in the fact that it works upside-down and rightside-up.

I invented this, of course. I am a gee-nee-us.

In this particular card, he played with WOW MOM, shortening it to WOM.

Which just proves brilliance is genetic, wouldn’t you agree? I had to create a new tag (“smartysmart”– see below) just to celebrate our combined brainy-licious-ness.

Yours truly, Wom.

Creepy Skeleton Guy

Not too long ago this weird little creature started showing up in his freaky poses all over my kitchen. One day he was resting in peace on a carefully folded tissue pallet in the windowsill; another day he and his death-defying grin suddenly appeared on the chair in the study. He has a nice heft [...]

As you can see, the Maker has been at it again. This time he put together a water-powered boat made from paper plates, a cup, a straw, some blue painter’s tape, and a wad of gum (which he borrowed from one of his brothers). When I saw the working demonstration, this craft had already been [...]

If He Had One Wish…

June 26, 2009

The Maker’s One Wish from Lisa Creech Bledsoe on Vimeo. This is the Maker’s answer to the surprise interview question: If you could have ONE THING that your parents say “No” to, what would it be? Although it caught me off guard at the time, I should have known this answer. And it’s just characteristic [...]

Toast to the Weekend

September 29, 2007

This morning I slept late (wow, my kids are growing up and can fix their own cereal and fight quietly!) and woke to infinite sunshine and a swooshy breeze coming in my window. The boys and I listened to tunes (I chose Rocky Horror and Justin Timberlake and they queued up Daughtry and Relient K) [...]

Whatever Happened to Macaroni?

January 16, 2007

Pasta is sooo ten minutes ago. Tonight the Maker gave me this special necklace to wear. It features (you guessed it) six (his age) shiny tabs pried from coke cans (Or as they say up north: soda cans. Down here, all fizzy drinks are cokes. If you want to specify which kind of coke, you [...]
