The Ice’s Cat Gene from Lisa Creech Bledsoe on Vimeo.

This is one of our family’s favorite stories about The Ice. We’ve told it so many times that now he tells it. I added a little bit here, and also let Henry the cat have his say. Oh, and it’s actually true that he said the words “kit-tee” and “me-ow” and darn it, even “Dad-dee” before he ever said Mama. Sigh.

The bottom 20 all-time worst songs

The original cover for Rick Dees’ Disco Duck I know this is going to be hotly disputed because there are just so many bad songs out there. But I had to make a stab at it anyway. Many of mine are bad because I just hate really sappy songs. Still, I eagerly await your corrections [...]

Boy House Rules

One of the Maker’s self-portraits In 2003 my house was insane. Our boys were 7, 5, and 3. Loud, dirty, and broken was the theme in our little suburban casa. Who is the JokeMaster?

The Jokemaster from Lisa Creech Bledsoe on Vimeo. I interviewed the boys about jokes they’d heard lately, then they turned the tables and interviewed me. I think we’ll all agree who wins this little exercise. Leave us a comment and share your jokes!

Worm babies, maps, and vending machines

Our new worms are faring well, I think, although as the Husband quipped recently, “they don’t talk much.” But we have nonetheless learned quite a bit about them, and we’re here to pass this valuable knowledge on to you. Where worm babies come fromBelieve it or not, actress Isabella Rossellini (remember that freaky David Lynch [...]

Fame and Glory

You might think that because The Husband gigs regularly with a rock and roll band that he has as many admiring fans as a forty-something guy with a groupie wife and three raised-on-rock sons could desire. Yesterday we were walking around the block and he began talking about a book he was going to write. [...]
