THURSDAY, SEPT 24: This Event Has Been Canceled

I don’t have any of the details, but learned from my trainer last night that this Boxing Event has been canceled due to reasons unknown at this time. Please pass the word, thanks.

*****************

Amateur boxing fans and competitors in NC and surrounding areas: clear your calendar and make plans to spend Saturday night, September 26th in Clayton, North Carolina at the fights.

If you are competing: weigh-ins and physicals are 12-2pm at NBS Gym (1249-C Wicker Drive, Raleigh, NC). Boxing begins at 6pm at Clayton Fitness Center (1370 Cameron Way, Clayton, NC). The contact person for this event is Coach Mandy, who can be reached at 919-607-4694.

My team from LA Boxing will be fielding a few boxers, and I remain hopeful that even if I don’t find a match for this one, I’ll make some good connections and see some exciting fights.

Clayton is a small but growing town on the southeast side of Raleigh. Raleigh is packed with fun things to see and do, and it’s two hours from the beach on one side and two hours from Charlotte on the other, so if you’re traveling to watch or compete, you have plenty of options for your Sunday afternoon.

It was hot as hell, no breeze, the drinking began well before any of the featured bands hit the main stage, and the inhalables [...]

Thank you so much, friend of @ericstroud who had a wedding on the night that Cheap Trick, Poison, and Def Leppard were scheduled to play the Walnut Creek ampitheater. And thank you Eric, for tweeting out your tix when you couldn’t go, great idea! There were a few bumps, however. In the “band drama” department, [...]

He’s a Pittsburgh native, a PR/Advertising director for a robotics company, the bass player in a regularly-gigging metal band, and a professional bodybuilder. If you follow him online (Twitter, Facebook, his blog, MySpace, you name it — this man knows his way around the intertubes) you learn quickly that he’s a major motorcycle racing fan [...]

Tristan Clopet and the Juice Packs Out Slim’s Downtown

On Wilmington Street, just between Martin and Hargett, there’s a skinny shotgun bar which during the day will fool you into thinking it’s nothing special. If you go in you can order your vodka Red Bull and carry it through the emergency exit at the back onto a concrete pad tucked between two tall downtown [...]
