He saved up for five weeks, I agreed to match his funds, and he bought a $10 scooter from the Roses discount store near our house. I remember walking over there with him to make the purchase. He hauled that long skinny box home every step of the way and was proud as a lion dragging home his first gazelle. He was five years old and I was amazed. I guess I still am.
