Weigh-ins for the “Mama Said Knock You Out” fight event were held at The Bassment on Glenwood South in downtown Raleigh last night. NBC 17 was there to film the action and interview the promoters and top fighters on the card.
Several of the fighters knew each other and greeted one another with hugs and smiles; others kept to themselves with an air of grim determination. The small crowd of die-hard fans, friends, and supporters cheered wildly for the fighters as they stripped down for the official weigh-in; the fact that everyone came in on target was a great show of professionalism.
I always experience the posedowns as awkward and cool at the same time; I think they work best when the fighters enjoy making a show of this traditional photo-op. I captured Bonnie “Queen B” Mann’s posedown as well as Paul “The Italian Hit Man” Marinaccio’s; you can see the rest of my photos of the event here.
I plan to be ringside tonight at the Raleigh Convention Center; you can still get tickets when the doors open at 6:30 pm. The first six matches are MMA, and the last three fights will be the pro boxing matches. Come on out and support these incredible, powerful and dedicated fighters!
