Pre-Fight Playlist

This playlist has a very different mood than the one I made for the Atlanta fight (which I need to post, I know). That one was all revved up and rocking, where for the last-minute exhibition fight with Bonnie I wanted to be calm and unruffled. So I gathered up some of my smoothest grooves and old favorites — the songs that always make me feel good and promise me everything will be okay.

It looks like a pretty bizarre mix, maybe, but every song on there is better than macaroni and cheese with extra cheese. Sheer comfort food for the heart.

I call this playlist The Unexpected Bell.

This is an awesome playlist! (My boyfriend has been very into the Dan Band lately. I keep trying to get him to go to karaoke with me and sing “Total Eclipse of the Heart”.) I really ought to get into the pre-fight playlist habit myself. I was supposed to fight today and all I did to mentally psych myself up was listen to “Mama Said Knock You Out” like 43 times. And then the fight was postponed…so now I’ve got a month to think about the tunes that will get me into the right mindset. You’ve got awesome criteria here and judging from your account of the fight, it seemed to do the trick!

Hah! I love The Dan Band’s version of Total Eclipse of the Heart, too. Hell, I love all their stuff. But, you know, ’tis the season for Rock You Hard, and WHO, I ask you, can listen to that without getting a great big grin??

Sorry about your fight not happening when you expected. My trainer says she had that happen more often than not, and it’s just another (annoying) part of boxing. It still sucks, tho, huh? Just when you thought you were going to get PIZZA the next day!

Hey, I put you on my blogroll, and you gotta be sure and let me know when your fight happens — I’ll be glad to post your write up of the experience here if you like!

      Hang in there, Pink Pearl!
