    Getting a good amateur boxing match together is never, ever a blissfully effortless ride on the pugilistic merry-go-round. It’s the most complex, chaotic, and frequently emotional mess you ever did see.

    If all you ever do is show up to enjoy a local fight night it might look smooth, from the outside. But it absolutely isn’t. For the 4 to 6 hours prior to the doors opening at the average amateur boxing evening, there is more anarchy and disarray than a high school cafeteria lunch period on homecoming Friday with no teachers.     London 2012 Women’s Olympic Boxing Matchups

    The draw is impartial, but it has created at least one tough pathway for a fighter who is in my Top 5 Women to Watch this year in London’s 2012 Olympic games.

    Queen Underwood is no stranger to a challenge, and she has her work cut out for her in the women’s lightweight bracket. She faces home crowd favorite Natasha Jones of Great Britain, in what promises to be one of the most exciting fights of the Games. Click here for a quick little vid of Natasha in training.

    If Underwood can snag the W, she goes on to what will arguably be the biggest contention of the Olympic women’s battle, facing Irish world champion Katie Taylor.

    I haven’t written much about my middleweight favorites, but in addition to Team USA’s Clarissa Shields you should definitely keep a sharp eye on Mary Spencer of Canada, who by virtue of her bye is precisely one bout away from a guaranteed bronze medal. And since Savanna Marshall — who became Britian’s first women’s world champion on her 21st birthday — has the home field advantage, she’ll also have a slight edge on the competition.
