Yep, that’s a pogo ramp. And after he pwn3d that, he aerated the lawn for us.

Signs of Maturation
This morning the Maker took a bath in my bathroom. Normally this means that not only do I have to harry him to get clean in a reasonably conservative fashion (“Get your hair wet.” “Wash your feet.” “Turn off the water.” “Have you washed your feet?” “Rinse your hair.” “Honey, stop letting the water out and filling it back up.” “Did you use soap?”) but I also have to remind him to go through each of the cleaning-up-afterward stages.
So I was rather astonished, when I reminded him to hang up his towel and put his dirty clothes in the hamper, that he smiled and said “Already did.”
SO astonished that I got up and went in to see this miracle. Sure enough, it was all clean and tidy, except for a wingnut and a can tab, which presumably fell out of his pockets during the process. Only a wingnut and can tab! I think he’s reached some sort of milestone in his development.

It’s my blogiversary!
Happy blogiversary to me / happy blogiversary to me
Happy blogiversary to me / happy blogiversary to meMy blog is one year old today, and my how we’ve grown. The name went from Wishful Blogging (because, I figured, talking about blogging is so much easier than actually blogging) to The Glowing Edge, a move which lost me page rank, but gained me server space on the Wayback Machine. I’ve messed and messed and messed with my template until I finally broke it, and I still haven’t regained my comments feature. I made over 500 blog posts this year on my combined eight blogs (not counting the three YouTube channels), which naturally proves my manhood. Of course, only about 25 of those posts were actually worth reading, but who’s counting? It’s the internet! You can even spam yourself!
So. On this momentous occasion I’d like to tearfully thank God and the Academy, kiss my trophy, make a fool of myself, and here name the exciting things I have accomplished (which all of you, the fans, made possible). Later I’ll post it to YouTube.
1. Discovered The Bees, Cake, The Weepies, and Gomez, all of whom rocked my world this year and were widely featured in my playlists.
2. Got down some of the stories I wanted to write about my life. This is the reason I started a blog in the first place. I write mostly for me, but also in the hopes that someday my kids will enjoy hearing some of their own history.
3. Found a place to finally integrate my writing, photography, artwork, love of technology, and now, my movie-making. I’m definitely glad to be born in the internet era.
Thanks to all (three) of you for reading, and once in a while letting me know that you’re reading. I LOVE you!
This year:
1. Get better at video
2. Explore social networking/bookmarking
Hope to see you around.

newest toy
These little critters have lots of yummy goodies — the ability to quickly upload to YouTube, simple editing capability, very impressive quality before compression, and the standard video greeting card capabilities. The two changes I would most like to see are a better onboard mic for playback (when I show videos to my friends in a coffee shop, they can’t hear it), and the ability to remove videos from the camera when I download them (via nifty pop-out usb) to my computer. Still. Love it!

Second Chance Card
Today is just one of those days; too much to do and not enough resources to get everything done. I was cranky and worried and I told several people in vivid and eloquent terms that I felt like cat yak, once right before we went through the buffet line at lunch (which may have put them off a bit). When we got home I sighed heavily and confessed in passing to the Maker that I hadn’t done so well today. He got this odd look on his face, told me to hold on a minute, and disappeared on an urgent errand. I had been having this effect on people all day, so I took it in stride. But momentarily the Maker returned, and beaming, handed me this fabulous card.
With great excitement he told me that God gives second chances. He said I should cover my card with clear packing tape so that it would be a bit more waterproof (?), and he also told me I could only use it once, which was profoundly discouraging considering my track record this week. So I double-checked on that point and he said, well, I could make some more.
Whew! With a pack of markers and some index cards I should be set.

woot is the new sweet
The First brought home a math test with a grade of 95 written in red across the top. I knew how hard-won that grade was because he had written “Woot!” next to it. For a long time “Sweet!” was my primary expression of joy. If I had been blogging in 1990, I could show you that I’ve been using this word since then, but if I had been blogging in 1990 you would would have seen a viler vocabulary as well, since at the time I was working as a wait slave in a high-dollar restaurant while attending grad school, a double potty-mouth whammy. Suffice it to say that I was using “sweet” well before you see it posted in UrbanDictionary.com, yet I am obviously behind the times. I may still put two spaces at the end of every sentence I type, but even I know (now) that woot is the new sweet.
Let the new millennium begin! Oh, wait…
